When the Boxford Common sports fields were built, one field was completed using an artificial turf, which holds up better to repeated use and weather. The playing surface has an estimated 10 year life until it needs to be replaced. The exact cost has not yet been determined, but it is expected to be about $400,000.
In an effort to help defray this cost, in conjunction with the Town, the BAA will be allowed to collect money via a licensing agreement signed in November. The funds will ultimately be held by the town in a trust account for the sole purpose of replacing the playing surface when it is required. This transfer represents money collected during the 2018-2019 school year. Today, Novack made the first annual transfer to the Town.
