The annual Boxford July 4th Road Race, normally set in the historic East Boxford Village, has made some changes in 2020 due to the unprecedented restrictions associated with the covid emergency. This year’s 29th annual 2020 Boxford July 4th Road Race, supporting the Jennifer Tinney Scholarship fund, will be held as a Virtual Road Race!
Hosting our Road Race as a virtual event, will allow the Boxford Athletic Association (BAA) to continue supporting two Masconomet High School Scholarships that are funded by the BAA yearly, as well as keeping our beloved Boxford Road Race tradition intact. Although our normal course is USATF certified, this year you will have the luxury of participating in a non-competitive “virtual race” from the convenience of your own home just for fun!
You choose your distance:1 mile, 2.5 miles, or 5 miles.
You choose your location: any location convenient to you.
You choose to Run or Walk…We just ask you to have fun!
Here are the event details:
Register by July 4th using the link below:
Cost is $25 for adults, $20 for children
Like and follow our facebook page @BAA.roadrace to stay updated and post race photos
Run your race anytime between June 28-July 4th using your own course of choice.
**We encourage community involvement and support by asking you to post a picture of you, your family, or your appropriately-socially distant running group’s race day photo on the Boxford Road Race Facebook page, or send your pictures, names, details to email@example.com
T-shirt pick up for local runners will be curbside pick-up in a convenient Boxford location, but due to the uncertainty around producing the t-shirts for this event, the date for t-shirt pick up will be announced later. Specific details on T-shirt pickup will be shared when we have a definite answer from the company. Out of area runners beyond a 50-mile radius from Boxford will have the option to receive their shirts by mail.
Thanks for joining us in this unique event…we could not continue to fund the scholarships if it weren’t for your support!
Proceeds are directed to support Jennifer Tinney Scholarship Fund at Masconomet High School.
If you have any questions about the race, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Set in the historic East Boxford Village, the 28th annual Jennifer Tinney Memorial 4th of July Road Race is a popular 5 mile competitive event. The course is USATF certified. Age group categories include 2-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 plus.
In addition to the 5 mile race we also offer the Boxford Mile which is also USA Track and Field certified.. Age groups include 2-8, 9-12, 13-15, 16-18, 19-39 (Open), 40+.(Masters). Course starts on Elm Street, right on Main Street, right on Middleton and finishes back at the intersection of Elm.
We are changing the 5K race to 2.5 miles so we can start and stop at the same location of the 5 mile race.
Non-runners are invited to participate in a 2.5 mile Walk For Fitness. Awards are presented to top age group finishers in the 5 Mile Run and Boxford Mile. The 5 Mile Run, 2.5 Mile Run and Walk For Fitness start at 8:00 a.m. The 1 Mile Run starts at 8:05.
